September 5, 2016: El Faro en el Cerro de la Ballena

This week was pretty cold... now it is only about 100 degrees... compared to who knows how hot? It sure is cooling down a lot and in the night it is like 90 and I almost have to put a jacket on...

My comp and I have been seeing a lighthouse on a hill that we have really been urging to go to. Last night we asked permission from our leaders to go study on the hill at the lighthouse. We made it to the bottom of the hill... more like mountain... and started the climb. It was a steep dirt road. We made it to the top and it was super awesome. We could see all of Peñasco... but ... the butt part of the story... the lighthouse is government owned, and partially gated off.  When we started walking close... there were loose dogs that started chasing us...but luckily they didn't leave the fenced area. So we took a quick pic to have evidence of the experience and went down the hill. My comp wasn't too sure about going down the hill because "what if there were some wild animals?". The other day she saw a snake for the first time in her life and is traumatized! But we made it down with no flesh wounds and without seeing any animals except the loose dogs! But that is normal here in Perro Peñasco.

We went to Malecon where there are some rocks above the beach and we had a pretty rad study time. We had some nice looks from the tourists, but it was an awesome experience. We sang "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," and then shared our testimonies. We wrote our testimonies on some papers and then made a rock statue and left the papers in the rocks! It was super awesome to feel the breeze and hear the waves, and feel the Power of God and his incredible creations.

Without fail, we went to eat some yummy breakfast at a restaurant of a member here! It was pretty much a morning on the corner of awesome and bombdiggity.

Also this week we have an investigator that is going to get married so that she can get baptized the 17th of September. She is the sister of the boy that I baptized my first week in Peñasco with the Hermana Baños. The rest of the fam got baptized in March. The family is the family Fuentes. They are super awesome, and I am super stoked that she is going to be baptized! I love this family so much.  They are so humble, yet give all they have, because they are conscious of all the real blessings they receive from God. Someday I will explain you all about their story, and about how the dad before was in Narco traffico and crossed the border with drugs.  Now he has the priesthood and blesses the sacrament!  It is truly incredible how the gospel changes lives!

I am writing early today because in the morning I made pizza dough, and at 2 we are going to an investigator's house to make pizza. She is awesome, named Abigail.  She is quitting smoking, and needs lots of help, but is making a lot of progress!
Oceans of love to you all,
Hermana Barton

Doing her homework to take a pic with the Barton Family Reunion shirts that Grandmas Bebe made

Claro Que Si

Niki is the daughter of the lady where I am going right now to make pizzas. She is a fanatic of Frozen. Love her! We had to take a quick pic yesterday at church.

El Faro en el Cerro de la Ballena--Proof is in the Picture. Haha

Take 2 on the study session--at the Malecon, writing our testimonies and putting them under rock statues we made
