January, 4, 2016: San Carlos

This week I got to eat at a member's house in San Carlos... A town right on the beach! So I got to walk close to the beach, and smell the beach. And fill a part of my heart that was missing.

On New Years we helped a lady make TONS of tamales! And then after we went to peoples' houses and ate too much food. I thought I was going to explode! I am talented at eating lots of food.... but this was DEMASIADO (a ton!!).

After I was more than full we went to another member's house, and she had menudo for us to eat. We told her that we were pretty full and that we could share a bowl. For you who don't know, menudo is cow stomach... GROSS! It is nasty. It is like gum in your mouth. And it had huge chunks, and the texture looks repulsive. You can see like the membrane outside of the stomach... I thought I was going to barf... and hallelujah my comp liked it! And she ate the whole bowl!!

After, we squeezed in some ice cream, because everyone knows that to bring in the New Year right you need chocolate and ice cream!

I can't believe that it is 2016, and that I will come home at the end of this year. I have learned SO much in these 6 months of my mission. I am excited to see what this year brings. I know that there will be many experiences, and miracles, and that from each experience that we have, everyday that we pass, that we have the opportunity to learn something and improve.

But I know that in times that are difficult and hard, if we put our confidence in God and our Savior Jesus Christ, all things will turn out okay! That our Heavenly Father has a plan for each one of us!

Happy 2016!!

Oceans of love to all!!!!

Hermana Barton

She really did make it close to the sea! Hermana Mermaid close to home.

New Years Eve with some other sister missionaries who live close. AND their chocolate ice cream bars, as proof of an evening well spent. I'm pretty sure Meredith's t-shirt reads: "Soy Una Reina."  That must be one she's picked up on the mish. For those who don't speak Spanish, that means, "I am a queen."
