January 11, 2016: Feliz Día de los Reyes

On the 6th of January we celebrated The Day of the Kings (The Three Kings). Here, they eat a bread called "rosca de reyes" and part has a baby Jesus doll and if you get this part, you have to throw a party and make the food in February. We went to an investigator's house, and celebrated her granddaughter's birthday, and ate rosca. The thing is that this lady forgets things! So we finished the rosca, and she asked if we wanted more three times! She served us HUGE pieces!! We finally could not eat any more and were trying to leave and she was trying to feed us more!!! She would ask if I wanted more, and I would tell her that I didn't, but that my comp wanted a little more!! It was hilarious! We finally had to leave, and we left with our plates full of MORE rosca!!!

Yesterday, I made pizzas in one of the member's houses (La familia Jimenez). I felt like it was Friday night pizza night at my house. And we had some leftover dough, so we made some cinnamon rolls too!!!

This week was one of my best weeks of my time with my comp! I am very happy here in Guaymas. The members here are awesome. The members in my other ward were great too, but the people here are just so down to earth and giving. We found lots of new people to teach, and had lots of cool experiences! We started teaching a family. Their mom is inactive and she has four kids, and it is so awesome to teach a family. Really our goal here in this life is to have an eternal family, and it is so great to try to help other families be eternal and receive the blessing that I have seen our family receive!

It is super to be here in Mexico, speaking Spanish (or at least trying) and meeting new people everyday! Every new person has a story and MANY are VERY interesting... but it is amazing the love I feel for each and every one, and the things I can learn from the people here!

This week is the last week of transfers, so I will probably have a new comp next week, and might have to move from Guaymas (but I really hope NOT).

Oceans and oceans of TONS of love to all,
Hermana Barton

Bruja 71. It was freezing while we were studying, so I wrapped myself up in all the clothes and scarfs I had. But then I looked apparently like a famous character from a TV show  called "El Chavo". jaja
